Raindance

So as I mentioned in a previous post, we are going to take up my Da's offer and grow something at Windy Knolls.  I had gotten a lot of different kinds of seeds for Michael and in anticipation of the growing season, he started making seedlings!
Here we have tomatoes and zucchini but he also sprouted some of all the chili seeds got him from Sandia Seed (see previous post).  Everything looks so beautiful and healthy.

I am hoping to get some herbs from the nursery but I have the feeling that by the time the ground has been prepared and I'm not away on a business trip, the nursery will be sold out.

However - I did get some Rue from Etsy sellers because it isn't something you are going to find at the local nursery or garden center (same for patchouli plants....yes the ones they use to make that 60's smelling oil but patchouli PLANTS smell wonderful!).  Here they are happily growing away.  One of the larger plants (in the dannon container) died but the nursery is replacing it for me which is lovely!

Rue is poisonous if ingested but it looks very pretty (it is a blue/gray green plant with lacy leaves and a tiny yellow flowers) and I love the smell!

We also have a good quantity of pollinating insect flower seeds to feed the bees and other pollinating bugs.  These will also look pretty and my Mom will be able to have cut flowers whenever she wants them.

Da has the ground plowed but it needs tilling and they haven't had much rain up there.  Of course they have had a LOT of rain there this week so now the ground is too muddy and Da is temporarily out of action with a seriously shi**y cold. I'm hoping that when I get back from this next business trip Michael and I will be able to plant things (fingers are crossed!!) but if not - Michael will just keep putting everything into bigger pots until the time is right (and I can stop tripping over the empty plastic containers he has saved for just such a purpose)!
